FORMER Economic Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has accused certain actors of orchestrating a systematic narrative to portray him as the “most failed minister,” a portrayal he says has recently dominated multiple media platforms.

Speaking via a Facebook post on Thursday, Rafizi insisted the attacks were far from coincidental, suggesting they were driven by individuals with influence intent on shaping negative public perception of him.

“The reason is the individuals behind these attacks and calls; most people do not even know them. If this were not coordinated, I don’t think the major media outlets in the country would devote space to report their comments,” he said.

The former Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) also questioned how statements from relatively unknown figures could gain widespread attention without deliberate planning.

Rafizi added that he was unsurprised by the campaign, viewing it as an attempt to divert focus from other pressing issues.

While acknowledging personal shortcomings, he defended his record in political office, framing his so-called failures as principled stances.

“I have failed to remain silent when I sense corruption; the higher the position, the stronger my voice. Some of my failures have had an impact on society.

“This week, Datuk Seri Najib was ordered to repay more than RM5 billion to the government due to misappropriations in 1MDB,” Sinar Harian reported him saying.

Rafizi also claimed that his earlier statement implicating PKR Vice President Datuk Seri R Ramanan as a Member of Parliament who received RM9.5 million has yet to be legally challenged. - April 2, 2026
