POLICE have arrested a man suspected of involvement in a machete attack at a coffee shop in Triang last month, with investigations now widening to identify and apprehend six other individuals linked to the case.

Bera district police chief Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir said the suspect was detained at 12pm yesterday at Level 4 of the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, following a public tip-off.

"The suspect is believed to be involved in a machete attack using a sharp weapon at Ming Wang Kopitiam, No 4 Jalan Besar Mengkuang, 28340 Triang, Pahang," he said in a statement.

He added that the suspect was brought before the Temerloh Magistrate’s Court today for a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"The court has allowed a five-day remand until April 9 to facilitate further investigations," he said.

The victim in the incident remains hospitalised at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained in the attack.

Zulkiflee said initial investigations had identified four suspects, including the individual now in custody.

However, further inquiries have since revealed the involvement of three additional suspects, bringing the total number of individuals linked to the case to seven.

Authorities have urged members of the public with information related to the incident to contact the Bera District Police Headquarters or the nearest police station to assist in ongoing investigations. - April 5, 2026
