POLICE busted a drug syndicate worth more than RM31 million after arresting two local men in a special operation on April 9.
The two suspects, aged 31 and 33, were arrested in raids at two separate locations in Selangor and the capital.
Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said that in the first raid in front of a workshop in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, they managed to arrest a suspect who was believed to be acting as a transporter.
“A search of an Audi vehicle used as a drug storage facility found 200 packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing 212 kilograms.
“Following that, a second raid on a two-storey terrace house in Cheras led to the arrest of a second suspect who was acting as a storekeeper,” he said in a press conference today.
He added that further searches found 389 packages of methamphetamine (404.12 kilograms), 1,975 pieces of aluminium foil containing Erimin 5 pills weighing 6.4 kilograms and 400 vape cartridges containing 0.8 litres of suspected fentanyl liquid.
In total, he said, police seized 616.12 kilograms of methamphetamine, 6.4 kilograms of Erimin 5 pills and 0.8 litres of fentanyl liquid with an estimated value of RM31.57 million.
“Investigations found that the syndicate had been active since the beginning of this year with a unique modus operandi, namely that the supplier left the vehicle containing the drugs with the keys at a certain location before being picked up by the customer to be stored in the store, and returned after the business is done.
“Initial urine screening tests found that both suspects were negative for drugs and had no criminal records.
“The drug seizure has the potential to affect approximately 3.12 million users,” he explained.
Adding that, the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.
Both suspects are now remanded for 13 days until April 22 and 11 days until April 19, respectively, for further investigation.
Police have also seized property under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, involving approximately RM432,000, including three vehicles and RM15,000 in cash, bringing the total value of the seizure and confiscation to around RM32 million. – April 16, 2026
