A SIXTY-YEAR-OLD educator has been taken into police custody after a teenage girl with learning disabilities reported being molested in a staff room last Thursday.

The victim, a form three student, initially drew attention to the incident after she displayed signs of trauma and refused to attend school, eventually confiding in her older sister about the ordeal.

According to sources, the incident occurred at approximately 1:00pm on April 16th when the victim and two of her peers entered the staff room.

It is alleged that the suspect warned the girl to keep the encounter secret, despite the fact that her classmates reportedly witnessed the act.

The student was so frightened by the encounter that she refused to return to her studies until the truth was revealed.

Following the disclosure, a police report was lodged, leading to the swift arrest of the veteran teacher.

Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, confirmed the investigation while speaking to reporters, noting that the case is being handled under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. - April 18, 2026
