A YEAR Two female student died after being hit by a van in front of the gate of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Maimon, Parit Sulong, Batu Pahat, this afternoon.

Nur Aini Umairah Mohd Fareez, 8, was hit by a van while returning from school at around 12.40 pm and was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

It is understood that before the incident, the victim was believed to have just finished school before leaving the gate.

Coincidentally, the van involved also left the school gate after delivering goods, but did not notice the victim and rammed into her.

The incident was also witnessed by several parents of other students who happened to be waiting for their children to return from school.

The body was taken to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed police had received a report on the incident.

"A statement regarding the incident will be issued soon once the initial investigation is complete," he said. – May 5, 2026
