THE Malaysian Road Transport Department (RTD) in Negeri Sembilan has revealed that a significant number of luxury vehicles, including those owned by individuals with titles and professionals, have been found operating on public roads without valid road tax or insurance coverage.

State director Jasyindar Singh Sihdu said a total of 143 luxury vehicles were seized throughout 2025 under the Special Director’s Operation, with a further 45 vehicles seized between January and April this year alone.

He said the enforcement exercise had highlighted repeated non-compliance among high-end vehicle owners, despite the strict legal requirement to maintain valid road tax and insurance.

“Among the achievements of the Special Director’s Operation are firm actions taken against luxury vehicles found violating road transport laws,” he said at a press conference.

Jasyindar said the vehicles seized in 2025 included seven Porsche cars, 11 Audi vehicles, 21 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire units, 30 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, 35 BMWs, and 39 other vehicles.

For the period from January to April this year, the seized vehicles included three Porsche cars, four Audi vehicles, three Toyota Alphard and Vellfire units, 15 Mercedes-Benz cars, 12 BMWs, and eight other vehicles.

He said those caught typically came from a wide range of backgrounds, including business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals.

“In one case involving a seized car, the owner was a man with a ‘Datuk’ title in his late 40s. The common offences detected were expired road tax and insurance,” he said.

“That is why their vehicles were seized. We have even seized Porsche vehicles for the same offences, which is what makes it difficult for us to understand,” he added.

“Being able to afford a Porsche, but without road tax and insurance. That is confusing to us,” he said.- May 9, 2026
