CAAM confirms DA-40 plane incident in Langkawi

THE Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed an incident involving a Diamond Aircraft model DA-40 with registration number 9M-HMJ, while on a training flight.

In a statement, CAAM said the aircraft made an emergency landing near Kuah, Langkawi, Kedah, today.

"The aircraft departed from Langkawi International Airport at 9.54 am for a scheduled training flight, and the last communication with the Langkawi Air Traffic Control Tower was recorded at 10.29 am," the statement said.

According to CAAM, there were two people on board the aircraft, including the pilot, and both were reported safe.

The investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Air Accidents Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Transport, in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016. – May 12, 2026
