Cabinet did not discuss Jho Low’s pardon bid, says Fahmi
Fahmi said the matter arose during today’s meeting, though it was raised.

REPORTS that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, has sought a pardon from United States President Donald Trump are expected to be raised at the cabinet meeting next week.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was not discussed during today’s meeting, though it arose.

"It will certainly be brought to the cabinet's attention next week," he said during a post-cabinet press conference today.

The wanted businessman, better known as Jho Low, was reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) to have filed for a pardon from Trump ‌weeks ago, citing people familiar with the matter.

Fahmi was asked whether the Malaysian government planned to make formal representations to the United States authorities opposing any possible pardon for Jho Low.

On another matter, he said the government expressed deep regret over the Norwegian government's decision not to approve the export permit for the procurement of missiles from the country at the last minute.

He said the decision had prevented the Norwegian company involved from continuing with the supply as agreed, even though the procurement contract had been signed since 2018.

He said the contract had been implemented without any issues, with all payments made on schedule.

The MADANI Government spokesperson said the government is currently taking action through diplomatic channels in addition to considering follow-up steps from a legal perspective. - May 13, 2026
