THE Malaysian delegation, which returned to Kuala Lumpur after being detained by Israeli authorities, said preparations were already underway to pursue possible international legal action over alleged violations of international law linked to the mission.
Head of the Malaysian delegation, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said a team of lawyers was currently gathering documents and evidence to support potential proceedings before international courts.
He said Malaysia would not remain silent over the treatment faced by humanitarian mission participants and vowed to expand nationwide solidarity campaigns in support of Palestine and Gaza.
“We will go across the country carrying the voice of Gaza’s struggle because this is the greatest humanitarian issue of this century. There are efforts by certain parties to spread false information and attack mission delegates in order to sabotage the Palestinian solidarity movement,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking during the reception ceremony for the returning Malaysian delegation of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last night.
A total of 28 Malaysian delegates who participated in the mission and were later released from Israeli detention arrived at KLIA at approximately 9.30pm aboard an Emirates Airlines flight after departing from Istanbul, Türkiye, and transiting in Dubai.
The group travelled alongside Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby, who had departed Istanbul International Airport late on Saturday before the transit in the United Arab Emirates.
One Malaysian delegate, Razman Mat Ali, 38, did not return with the group and remains hospitalised in Istanbul for further treatment after reportedly suffering a traumatic pneumothorax, or collapsed lung, allegedly caused by being punched by Israeli soldiers.
Razman is expected to remain under medical observation for approximately two more weeks and is reported to be in stable condition.
Amirudin said the GSF 2.0 mission would continue beyond humanitarian aid voyages, with Malaysia seeking to strengthen international diplomatic and legal efforts against the Zionist regime through broader global initiatives.
He said future efforts would include international conferences, legal initiatives and continued humanitarian operations through both maritime and land routes, including via the Rafah crossing.
According to him, the mission team was also close to completing arrangements for the delivery of 30 containers of humanitarian aid destined for civilians in Gaza.
“We will not stop here. The GSF 2.0 mission may be over, but the voice calling for the liberation of Gaza cannot stop,” he said.
Amirudin also revealed that Malaysia was considering hosting an international conference related to the Palestinian cause with the support of both the Federal Government and state administrations.
He praised the Malaysian delegation, which comprised individuals from various ethnic and professional backgrounds, for their willingness to sacrifice their time, energy and personal safety in support of humanitarian efforts for Palestinians.
The incident is expected to further amplify Malaysia’s increasingly vocal stance on the Gaza conflict and strengthen domestic solidarity campaigns advocating international action over the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territory. - May 25, 2026
