A GAMBLING syndicate that allegedly transformed a luxury residential unit in Bukit Jalil into a clandestine mini casino and online gambling hub has been busted following a police raid that led to 15 arrests and the seizure of suspected drugs.
Cheras deputy district police chief Superintendent Lim Chun How said officers from the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) of the Cheras District Police Headquarters successfully crippled the operation during a raid conducted under Op Noda/Dadu last Saturday.
He said 15 individuals aged between 21 and 44 were detained during the operation.
The suspects comprised 12 Malaysian men, two Malaysian women and a Vietnamese woman.
“Police also seized various gambling equipment, including a ‘Texas Holdem’ casino table, hundreds of gambling chips, playing cards, RM4,904 in cash, laptop computers and a karaoke audio system,” he said in a statement today.
The discovery suggests the luxury unit was being used not only for online gambling activities but also as a physical gambling venue catering to patrons seeking a casino-style experience.
Further searches uncovered four transparent plastic packets containing approximately 10.11 grams of a white powder believed to be cocaine.
Police checks also revealed that one of the suspects was a wanted individual linked to a drug-related case in Pulau Tikus, Penang.
“Investigations are being conducted under Section 4(1)(b) of the Entertainment Act (Federal Territories) 1992, Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said.
The raid marks the latest enforcement action against organised gambling operations increasingly moving into private residential properties in an effort to evade detection by authorities. - June 15, 2026
