A 44-year-old woman was charged in the Magistrate's Court, Sepang, today for the murder of an Indonesian woman earlier this month.

The accused, Chin Siau Lan, is charged with murdering the Indonesian woman known as Puteri at a residential unit at The Olive, Jalan Sunsuria 1, Bandar Sunsuria.

The charge was read out before Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani.

The woman is charged with murdering the victim at about 2.31 pm on June 3.

Chin, who is self-employed, is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and can be sentenced to death or imprisonment for 30 to 40 years, and if not sentenced to death, must also be whipped not less than 12 times.

No confession was recorded from the accused because the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The court did not offer bail and set July 21 as the date for document management.

Prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor V Luvithaa, while the accused was represented by V Ayasamy. – June 19, 2026
