LIGHT Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) operations connecting Shah Alam, Selangor and surrounding areas will begin next Monday.
Announcing this, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the LRT3 operations are scheduled to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this Sunday.
"The (LRT3) inauguration ceremony will be held this Sunday, and operations will begin the next day," he said at a press conference to officiate the opening of the new Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bandar Tasik Selatan Branch Office, today.
Also present were Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli and Maju TMAS Sdn Bhd Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
The LRT3 service was supposed to start operations last year, but its launch was delayed following several issues related to system and software stability identified during the testing and commissioning (T&C) phase.
The 37.8-kilometre project connects Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, with Johan Setia, Klang, thus improving the public transport network in the western corridor of the Klang Valley.
The line also provides rail access to densely populated and rapidly developing areas such as Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.
On the new JPJ Bandar Tun Razak branch office, Loke said it featured a modern concept and for the first time featured a difference when operating between 8.30 am and 10 pm daily.
“The operating hours here are also expected to reduce traffic at other JPJ branch offices, in addition to the increased capacity to speed up transactions, improve delivery quality and handle up to 1,700 customers a day.
“This branch is also equipped with various digital facilities, including self-service kiosks, JPJeQ applications and devices to speed up transactions and strengthen the integrity and security aspects of the service delivery system,” he said. – June 22, 2026
