KOTA KINABALU – Four other individuals linked to Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan have tested positive for Covid-19 and are hospitalised.

Three of them are undergoing treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital here, along with the Keningau MP who was admitted yesterday, while the fourth, a Sabah Star official, is admitted to Kota Marudu Hospital.

A source told The Vibes that Jeffrey might have been infected at a Sabah Star council meeting, attended by 42 other members, on December 30.

One of the party officials is believed to be the source of the virus. He was believed to exhibit symptoms a day before attending the meeting.

According to the source, the party official was hospitalised on Sunday, the same day Jeffrey tested positive for Covid-19.

“Health workers are now conducting swabs on all close contacts or those who were present at the committee meeting,” said the source, who believes more might be infected.

Three others hospitalised are Jeffrey’s wife, Datin Cecilia Edwin, his house cook, identified only as Suzy, and his bodyguard, Lidduin Gadid.

The source said Jeffrey, who is also agriculture and fisheries minister and Tambunan assemblyman, did not attend ministerial functions or meet with leaders from other parties last week. – The Vibes, January 5, 2021
