EARLY voting for the 16th Johor State Election concluded on Tuesday with an impressive turnout of 94.49%, as 19,471 eligible military and police voters, along with their spouses, fulfilled their electoral responsibilities at polling centres across the state.

The strong participation underscores the readiness of Malaysia's security forces to exercise their democratic rights ahead of the main polling day, with voting conducted smoothly at 62 early polling centres throughout Johor.

The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) in a statement today said, polling commenced at 8.00am before concluding in stages at noon for 29 polling centres, 2.00pm for five centres, and 5.00pm for the remaining 28 centres.

A total of 7,960 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and their spouses participated in the early voting process, while 11,511 members of the Royal Malaysia Police and spouses from the General Operations Force cast their ballots.

The EC credited election officials and supporting agencies for ensuring the process proceeded efficiently and in an orderly manner.

EC Secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said, "The Election Commission extends its congratulations and appreciation to all Returning Officers and their teams for carrying out their responsibilities exceptionally well today."

He added, "The Commission also conveys its appreciation and gratitude to the Johor State Secretary's Office, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, members of the media, and all parties directly and indirectly involved for their cooperation and support extended to the Election Commission."

The completion of early voting marks a key milestone in the electoral process ahead of the statewide poll, with ballots cast by early voters to remain securely sealed until counting begins after voting concludes on election day. - July 7, 2026
