FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called on Negeri Sembilan voters to turn up at polling stations and exercise their right to decide the state’s future, as voting got underway for the 16th state election today.

In a Facebook post, Najib described polling day as a “day of decision”, reminding voters that they only get the opportunity once every five years to determine the direction of the state.

“Every five years, you are given the chance to decide the direction of NegeriSembilan,” he said.

He urged voters not to leave the decision to others, stressing that every ballot carried weight.

“Every vote is valuable. Do not let others decide the future of this state on your behalf,” he said.

Najib also called on voters to bring along their family members, relatives and friends to cast their ballots.

“If you want change, everything begins with one vote today,” he said.

“Go out and vote. Negeri Sembilan is in your hands.”

A total of 401 polling centres with 1,668 voting streams opened simultaneously at 8am today for the Negeri Sembilan state election. - August 1, 2026
