A CHIEF Financial Officer of a private higher education institution (IPTS) was charged at the Sessions Court in Seremban on a charge of criminal breach of trust involving RM6.5 million.
The accused, Noraini Aripin, 55, pleaded not guilty before Judge Datin M Kunasundary after the charge was read out.
According to the charge, the accused, who is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of an IPTS, was entrusted with managing money amounting to RM6,557,720 belonging to the company for the purpose of paying ad valorem duty to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
However, the accused is alleged to have misused the money by making payments for other purposes, resulting in the payment of ad valorem duty to the IRB not being made.
The offence was allegedly committed between September 2025 and April 2026 at the IPTS office in Bandar Enstek, Nilai.
She was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code (Act 574), which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.
MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor, Syairah Aqilah Khalil, offered bail of RM100,000 with several additional conditions.
Lawyer Kelvin Ong, in his appeal, informed that his client, who is married, has five children and is currently suffering from stage three breast cancer.
He said that the accused is the Chief Financial Officer with an income of RM15,000 a month, hence requesting a minimum bail of RM50,000.
The court then set bail at RM80,000 with one guarantor who is a citizen over 21 years old, reporting to the MACC office on the second week of every month until the case is resolved and surrendering his passport to the court.
The court fixed Sept 21 for mention. - August 19, 2026
