NO motion of no-confidence has been proposed against Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim ahead of the state assembly sitting next month, DUN Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Awaludin Said said today.
Awaludin said the assembly had received no notice or proposal from any party for such a motion, dismissing claims circulating on social media.
“So, I deny that there is any such proposal. I am of the view that matters to be brought before the DUN must be decided by the government.
“As long as the government has not decided on any action to be taken, I at the DUN level will continue to uphold that decision,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the Negeri Sembilan Community Programme (MANES) and presentation of welfare aid at the Menteri Besar’s official residence in Seremban.
The programme was launched by Ismail.
The claims of a no-confidence motion emerged amid renewed tensions involving the Negeri Sembilan royal institution and the Four Ruling Chiefs, following Ismail’s allegation that he had been forced to sign a Proclamation Instrument seeking the removal of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir on Aug 3.
The next Negeri Sembilan DUN sitting is scheduled to run for five days, with Tuanku Muhriz scheduled to officiate its opening on Oct 16.
Ismail has lodged a police report over the disputed document to enable an investigation by the authorities.
He also declined to comment on a meeting last Thursday with UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and three UMNO vice-presidents, which followed Zahid’s statement that he wanted an explanation from Ismail over the allegations.
Asked about the outcome of the meeting, Ismail said: “Haih… I am in a hurry now,” before leaving in his official vehicle.
The meeting was reportedly held at about 4pm in a special room during the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
Also present were UMNO vice-presidents Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Earlier media reports said the Four Ruling Chiefs had disclosed a letter signed by Ismail purportedly affirming a proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz. - September 14, 2026
