DATUK Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s challenge to any party seeking an end to UMNO's cooperation with the federal government by calling for the dissolution of Parliament or moving a no-confidence motion in the Dewan Rakyat was not driven by emotion, said Nooryana Najwa Najib.
Instead, the UMNO Puteri Information Chief stated that the challenge by the party president was issued out of a responsibility to uphold the party's dignity and champion the voices of the grassroots.
According to her, since the last General Election, UMNO has played a pivotal role and fulfilled its responsibilities in forming and ensuring the stability of the Unity Government for the sake of the nation's interests.
She stated that sincere friendship and political cooperation must be grounded in mutual respect, honesty, fairness, and trust.
"In this regard, I urge all parties not to take advantage of or underestimate the commitment demonstrated by UMNO.
"Let it not be that UMNO's patience is mistaken for weakness, or that our sincerity in upholding stability is taken for granted," she said in a statement.
Nooryana Najwa, the daughter of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, made these remarks in defence of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Earlier, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil advised Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders—particularly those from UMNO—against acting emotionally, urging those serving in Cabinet to prioritise the nation's interests above all else.
Last Saturday, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the BN Chairman, openly challenged Pakatan Harapan (PH)—led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to remove the coalition from the Unity Government.
Addressing PH supporters dissatisfied with his criticism of government policies, Ahmad Zahid reminded them that the Federal Government would collapse without BN.
"One option [for PH] is to secure a fresh mandate by holding a general election. "Secondly, officially remove us (BN)—hold a vote of no confidence in the Dewan Rakyat and dissolve Parliament," he said while delivering his winding-up speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. – September 15, 2026
