YANG di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir attended Friday prayers at Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir in Seri Menanti today, where more than 500 worshippers gathered.

Tuanku Muhriz was accompanied by his sons, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin and Tunku Panglima Besar Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin.

After the prayers, Tuanku Muhriz and his sons met members of the congregation and presented contributions to children and teenagers who were present.

Prof Dr Mohd Aluwi Sari, head of the Secretariat for Loyalty and Support for the 11th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, also handed a memorandum to Tuanku Muhriz.

The secretariat said the memorandum reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of loyalty, the Negeri Sembilan Constitution, Adat and the law.

Negeri Sembilan Secretary of State Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim was also present but declined to comment when asked about the latest developments.

The issue follows the Attorney General’s Chambers’ (AGC) position that members of the Negeri Sembilan Executive Council (MMKN) do not have jurisdiction, authority or power under the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959 to make an announcement concerning the proclamation.

The dispute centres on a proclamation dated April 19, 2026 concerning the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, which was decided by the MMKN.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim had referred to the MMKN decision in connection with an instruction for the proclamation to be gazetted.

The Friday prayers were led by the mosque’s executive officer Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, while Muhammad Afiq delivered the sermon titled “Menyuburkan Kepercayaan Memelihara Rumahtangga”. – September 18, 2026
