PERAK police have dismantled an online scam syndicate targeting Japanese citizens after raiding a house in Taman Merdeka, Ipoh, and arresting seven suspects, including six Japanese nationals.

Police seized electronic equipment worth about RM20,000 during the operation, which disrupted the alleged cross-border scam operation targeting victims in Japan.

The suspects are alleged to have operated the premises as a call centre, impersonating victims’ friends to deceive them into transferring money. - September 19, 2026
