POLICE have detained 17 people to assist investigations into an alleged brawl at a residential flat in Lembah Jaya, Ampang, following the circulation of a video on social media.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said the district police control centre received a public alert at 2.07am on Oct 31 about a fight at the Lembah Jaya flats along Jalan 3, Lembah Jaya Utara.

He said a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit was immediately dispatched to the scene.

"Although our personnel found no active fight upon arrival, a group of people had gathered at the location.

"A total of 17 individuals were detained to assist in the investigation," he said.

Khairul Anuar said investigators were also tracing the origin of a video depicting the alleged incident, which was uploaded on Threads and subsequently went viral.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed with a deadly weapon, which carries a maximum jail term of five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

He advised the public against speculation or actions that could disrupt public order and urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police. - November 1, 2026
