Syed Saddiq demands answers on February corporate mafia probe before new investigation
Syed Saddiq warns that alleged political intimidation could persist across changes of government if investigations were not conducted transparently - November 2, 2026

THE government must explain why findings from an investigation into alleged corporate mafia activities launched in February have yet to be made public, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said.

He questioned why another investigation had been announced under the leadership of Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar without first disclosing the outcome of the earlier probe.

Syed Saddiq said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had renewed his assurance last week that a transparent and independent investigation would be conducted, with no one, including those in senior positions, shielded from action.

He said a similar commitment had been made in February following revelations about an alleged share scandal that subsequently developed into allegations of corporate mafia activities.

He questioned whether the latest investigation had the same scope and terms of reference as the earlier one, and called for its findings to be disclosed to enable policy reforms to prevent similar incidents.

"What were the findings of the initial investigation in February? This is important so that we can understand what happened and take further action through policy reforms," he said.

Syed Saddiq was speaking during the committee-stage debate on the Supply Bill 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar had told Parliament that the government would not protect anyone involved in corporate mafia activities and that the full investigation report would be made public within three months.

A special task force led by the Attorney-General has also been established to coordinate the investigation.

Syed Saddiq also warned that alleged political intimidation could persist across changes of government if investigations were not conducted transparently, claiming that old cases were sometimes revived to pressure political opponents into switching allegiance. - November 2, 2026
