KUALA LUMPUR – Prasarana Malaysia Bhd decided to throw Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman a “birthday surprise” on Monday after a weekly meeting with the chairman, whose Covid-19 diagnosis was announced this morning.
“Together physically and online, the management of Prasarana ended its weekly meeting with chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman today with celebration and happiness by organising a ‘birthday surprise’ for this great leader,” said an excerpt from Buletin Warna, the company’s internal memo.
Today, the national public transport operator said staff who had been in close contact with Tajuddin have been instructed to undergo Covid-19 swab tests.
This comes mere hours after he tested positive for the disease, said a statement by the group’s corporate communications unit.
“(Staff) who belong in Category C have been placed under home quarantine immediately for 10 days until January 29, or until those from Category B have been found negative.”
It said Tajuddin, who is also Pasir Salak MP, came to the office on Monday morning for a meeting with senior officers.
He also came in to work the next day for yet another meeting, before heading straight to hospital after finding out that his Umno colleague, Padang Rengas lawmaker Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, is down with Covid-19.
It is understood that Tajuddin was present at a press conference where Nazri announced his withdrawal of support for Perikatan Nasional.
Prasarana confirmed that its headquarters at Menara UOA in Bangsar have undergone sanitisation.
It said the offices remain open in line with the National Security Council’s standard operating procedures, where only 30% of management staff are physically present.
Other personnel have been instructed to work from home until the end of the movement control order. – The Vibes, January 20, 2021
