KUALA LUMPUR – The government will implement the targeted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO) at the prisoner’s block, and immigration depot and quarters in Pekan Nenas, Pontian, Johor, from tomorrow until February 5.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in his daily update today, said Putrajaya came to the decision after getting advice from the Health Ministry.
“The TEMCO is to control people’s movements, and to avoid infection among staff and their family, and the outside community.”
He said another 660 individuals have been arrested for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedures, of whom 621 were issued compounds and 39 remanded.
A task force led by police conducted 56,935 inspections to ensure compliance with movement controls.
The offences recorded include not wearing a mask (228), failure to provide record-taking equipment for customers (121), lack of physical distancing (96), crossing district or state lines without police approval (54), and premises operating without approval or beyond the allowed operating hours (63).
Twenty-four illegal immigrants were arrested, and 17 land vehicles seized under Op Benteng.
The authorities also detected 113 vessels in Malaysian waters during the operation. – The Vibes, January 22, 2021
