PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) component parties have criticised Bersatu for fielding candidates in Malay-majority seats in the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN), claiming it risks splitting votes.
Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) vice-president, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, said Bersatu candidates were considered ‘messing things up’ by clashing with PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates, which could affect the goal between the two coalitions, which is to bring down Pakatan Harapan (PH).
"Bersatu's action of contesting alone in the Negeri Sembilan state election is only aimed at splitting the Malay vote. They know they cannot possibly win any seat.
"Bersatu fielded candidates in Malay and mixed seats that have a majority of Malay voters. As a result, Bersatu is clashing with PN and BN.
"If there is no Bersatu, the clash will be a 'straight fight' (one-on-one) between PN or BN against PH-DAP, which provides a better opportunity for voters to reject PH and DAP," he said in a statement today.
He said Bersatu's decision to field candidates could be a contributing factor to PH's victory in the contested seats.
"The PH and Bersatu teams are seen to be driving what is called the red group because both are red in colour.
"The people of Negeri Sembilan are smart. I hope we can all push back the red wave and ensure that the blue wave of PN and BN will take over the state administration," he added. – July 19, 2026
