KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was confused and he should not investigate the former for inciting citizens and threatening public security and order.

Anwar said Hamzah’s investigations were “unusual” because he is merely appealing to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to exercise his wisdom and reconsider the state of emergency.

“Read our statement to the Agong, we are merely appealing and requesting that His Majesty exercise his wisdom in reconsidering the state of emergency,” he said during a Facebook Live video tonight.

Anwar asked if it is wrong for citizens to appeal to their king’s wisdom, querying further if all of Putrajaya's decisions are supported by the people.

“What laws are you using? Which law says the rakyat can’t seek the wisdom of the Agong?” Anwar said.

The Port Dickson MP also pointed out that 114 MPs were against the suspension of Parliament during the emergency, pointing out that it also means that the Perikatan Nasional government has lost majority support.

“Even filing a petition in court is against the law now?” Anwar adds.

He then went on to urge the Perikatan Nasional administration to quit using threats, and said they have already lost in the political arena.

Earlier today, Hamzah said that investigation papers against Anwar and several other individuals have been opened.
