KUALA TERENGGANU – PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who was reported to have suffered shortness of breath last night, is in stable condition and “needs some rest”.

This was told by his son, Batu Buruk assemblyman Muhammad Khalil on Facebook this morning.

“I have just spoken to my father. His condition is stable and he needs rest. He must have been very tired due to his hectic schedule.

“Please pray for him to remain healthy to serve the ummah,” he said.

Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had also taken to Facebook to say that Hadi was admitted to Putrajaya Hospital last night after reporting shortness of breath before being transferred to the National Heart Institute for further treatment.

“Let us together pray for Tuan Guru’s recovery,” Zahid said.

Last night, it was reported that Hadi arrived at Putrajaya Hospital about 7.50pm accompanied by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

“A doctor said he is in stable condition. His heart was found to be weak, likely due to exhaustion,” Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah had said in a statement.

Armand Azha said Hadi was referred to IJN for follow-up treatment and to receive a swab test for Covid-19.

Hadi was sent to IJN here by ambulance at 9.25pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) information head Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali expressed concern for Hadi's health and called on all parties to pray for the Marang MP’s recovery so that he can continue with the struggle for the ummah.

“I am grateful to hear that Tuan Guru is in stable condition and has received the best treatment. I pray that Tuan Guru will always be under the protection of Allah SWT and be blessed with speedy recovery, as well as good health.

“His role in the formation of PN is very significant, especially in rallying understanding to ensure political stability for the well-being of the people and the prosperity of the country,” he added. – Bernama, February 16, 2021
