KOTA KINABALU – Tourism industry players in Sabah should make the necessary preparations to accommodate tourists and patrons at their outlets following the partial reopening of the state’s tourism sector.
In making this call, state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said what is most important is the need to implement stringent standard operating procedures (SOPs) to avoid another spike in Covid-19 infections.
He welcomed Putrajaya’s decision to partially reopen the tourism sector, with players now allowed to operate on a 50% capacity.
“Premises allowed to reopen include zoos, aquariums, farms, nature parks, extreme sport activity premises, as well as edutainment and recreational centres.
“Cultural and arts joints, like museums, art galleries, libraries, cultural stage shows and theme parks, are also allowed to operate with strict SOPs in place.”
Jafry reminded tourism players to be more attentive to the health of their workers, cleanliness of the environment and the implementation of SOPs.
