Sarawak hits record high of 353 Covid-19 cases

MIRI – Sarawak today logged a record high of 353 daily Covid-19 infections, surpassing its record set on January 22 when 229 cases were detected.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said Sibu district logged 181 new cases while Meradong district has another 67 infections.

About 150 of Sibu’s cases were detected via contact tracing and community screening, it added.

“There are also 12 health workers who tested positive for Covid-19 today in Sibu.”

The new infections take the cumulative number of cases in Sarawak to 8,650.

Meanwhile, Kuching recorded 31 cases, followed by Bintulu (22), Miri (8), Subis (8) and several districts having between one and six cases.

The state’s death toll remains at 76 as no new victims are recorded today.

Currently, the state has 25 clusters.

Sibu Hospital is treating 1,149 Covid-19 patients, Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching with 332 and followed by Miri Hospital (234), Bintulu Hospital (241), Kapit Hospital (173) and Sarikei Hospital (153). – The Vibes, February 24, 2021
