KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang will be under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) from March 5 to 18, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
The senior minister said the reclassification from the current MCO is based on the Health Ministry’s risk assessment that confirmed a downtrend in Covid-19 cases and infectivity rate.
The infectivity rate has recorded a decline from 1.2 to 0.8.
Ismail Sabri announced that inter-district travel will also be allowed in all states, except Sabah, following a request from the state government.
“Kedah, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Perak will remain under CMCO, while Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Putrajaya, and Labuan will be under the recovery MCO (RMCO) starting March 5 as well.
“Perlis remains a RMCO state,” he told a press conference aired live today.
Both the CMCO and RMCO phases are scheduled to run from March 5 to 18, except for Sarawak, where the CMCO will last until March 15.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced that most economic sectors will be allowed to open.
“They include the service sector and businesses offering beauty and health services, such as manicures, pedicures and facials.
“Restaurants will also be allowed to open until midnight, unless stated otherwise by local authorities,” he said.
Additionally, events and social activities, such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, reunions and retreats, among others, are also allowed from March 5 onwards.
However, Ismail Sabri issued a reminder that, despite the states and Federal Territories being under CMCO, all activities there must comply with existing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Among them is a maximum attendance of 50% of the capacity of the venue for the event.
Only in Perlis, which is under RMCO, is the attendance allowed to reach the full capacity of a venue.
