MIRI – Three blocks in SK Campuran Daro in Mukah district were razed this morning ahead of its reopening on Monday, destroying the teachers’ quarters, meeting hall and a general store.

The cause of the blaze in the rural primary school in central Sarawak has yet to be determined.

It started around 7am today, said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), adding that the fire was raging when rescue teams arrived.

There were no casualties reported as boarders and teachers have not resumed classes, it added.

“The fire burned down a building that served as teachers’ quarters, another that was used as a meeting hall and for textbook preparation, and the third was a general store.”

Firefighters from the Mukah fire station rushed to the site after receiving an emergency alert, the department said.
