MIRI – Sarawak DAP has rubbished rumours of its Mas Gading MP, Mordi Bimol, defecting to the ruling Perikatan Nasional.

The chapter’s deputy chairman, Chiew Ching Sing, told The Vibes that it is fake news.

“(Mordi) told us the rumours of him defecting are false, and reaffirmed his commitment to us and Pakatan Harapan.”

He added that such talk had been going on for a while.

On Saturday, Sabah DAP’s Tenom lawmaker, Noorita Sual, issued a firm denial following claims that she would leave the party.

“Such claims are false. I am not a traitor. I will not betray the mandate of the people or the trust my party has placed in me,” she told The Star.

Similarly, PKR’s Putatan MP, Awang Husaini Sahari, refuted rumours of him crossing over to PN.

Rumours about MPs planning to switch sides have been rife following the decision by PKR duo Larry Sng (Julau) and Steven Choong (Tebrau) on February 28 to support the PN government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The PH presidential council has accused PN of using government agencies, such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Inland Revenue Board and police, to pressure opposition lawmakers to jump ship. – The Vibes, March 10, 2021
