MIRI – More than one million Sarawakians have registered for vaccination as the state logged 222 new Covid-19 infections today.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in Kuching said that as of this afternoon, 615,208 people in Sarawak have registered with their divisional resident’s offices to get vaccinated.

Another 418,435 have registered via the MySejahtera app, the committee added.

There are about three million Sarawakians, with about two million aged 18 and above, who qualify for the vaccine.

While the state is seeing a surge in daily cases, it has not registered new deaths. The death toll remains at 89.

Miri district recorded the highest surge today with 57 cases, followed by Sibu (38), Bintulu (25), Kuching (29), Meradong (12), Betong (12), Julau (10), and other districts with fewer than 10 each. There are also 28 active clusters in the state.

Sibu Hospital today has 776 patients, followed by Miri Hospital (408), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (259), Bintulu Hospital (308), Kapit Hospital (166), Sarikei Hospital (131), Betong Hospital (207), Mukah Hospital (21), and Sri Aman Hospital (16). – The Vibes, March 13, 2021
