KUALA LUMPUR – DAP is appealing for a six-month postponement to hold its annual congress in light of the surge in Covid-19 infections.

Organising secretary Anthony Loke, in a statement today, said the party has submitted its appeal to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) after determining that the event will involve close to 4,000 participants.

“On July 6, I wrote a letter to RoS seeking permission to postpone the annual DAP congress for a period not exceeding 12 months.

“We then received a reply from RoS on September 7, stating that we are advised to hold the congress by December 31.”

Following the response, he said, the party found out just how many are due to attend, and put in a fresh postponement request.

“We sent another written appeal today to the director of RoS, seeking approval for another six-month postponement.” – The Vibes, October 5, 2020
