MIRI – Sarawak’s Covid-19 deaths surpassed 90 today after a 64-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at Kapit Hospital, said the state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in Kuching.
“The death toll is at 91 with this latest fatality,” the secretariat said in a press statement.
Expressing condolences to her family members, the secretariat said that the Covid-19 outbreak in Sarawak is still serious.
The secretariat also said that an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be in place at the Bintawa estate, Kuching from today until March 29.
This follows a sharp spike in positive infections there over the past few days.
There are 251 new infections in Sarawak today with Sibu district recording the highest daily surge at 65 cases, Miri 40, Bintulu 36, Betong 23, Kuching 22, Julau 21, Song 14 and several other districts less than 10.
There are 29 active clusters statewide with a new one – Cluster Jalan Tanjung at Bintulu town in northern Sarawak.
“The new cluster is sparked off by an index case, a supermarket worker aged 27.
“So far, 19 positive cases have been found in the outlet,” the secretariat said.
Sibu Hospital has 760 positive patients, Miri Hospital 423, Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching 265, Bintulu Hospital 334, Kapit Hospital 207, Betong Hospital 183, Sarikei Hospital 136, Mukah Hospital 18, Limbang Hospital 3 and Sri Aman Hospital 18. – The Vibes, March 15, 2021
