MIRI – Sarawak has recorded two coronavirus deaths, two new clusters and 332 fresh infections today, as the pandemic worsens in the state.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the two fatalities – involving a 61-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman, both in Sibu Hospital – bring the death toll to 116.

Meradong has the most new cases today at 121, followed by Bintulu (48), Miri (43), Sibu (36), Kuching (24) and Samarahan (13), while other districts have fewer than 10.

The secretariat said the two new Covid-19 clusters today are the Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan Beluru and Sg Kawi clusters in Meradong, where residents in settlements have been found positive.

Health teams are currently carrying out active contact tracing, with some 120 cases detected in the two clusters, so far.

There are 42 active clusters in the state. – The Vibes, April 7, 2021
