MIRI – Sarawak today recorded four new Covid-19 deaths and 607 cases in another record day.

The death toll now stands at 128, following the death of a 36-year-old woman at Miri Hospital, and a 67-year-old woman, a 67-year-old man and a 42-year-old man at Sibu Hospital.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said in a statement that 48 clusters are still active in the state, including a new Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster in Kuching.

Of the 607 new cases today, Bintulu recorded the most cases at 130.

Sibu saw 106 cases, followed by Kuching (66), Kapit (33), Miri (49), Mukah (52), Meradong (29), Saratok (23), Sarikei (14) and Samarahan (14). Other districts saw fewer than 10 cases.

The Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster logged 60 cases today involving trainees at a police training camp.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas was scheduled to hold a press conference today, but it was cancelled as he had to attend urgent meetings on the pandemic.

Sarawak has for the past two days topped the list of states in the country with the highest infections. – The Vibes, April 13, 2021
