SHAH ALAM – The One Utama shopping complex in Bandar Utama and the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort in Petaling Jaya have been ordered to close from tomorrow, following the detection of Covid-19 cases on their premises.
Up to now, four positive Covid-19 cases were detected in One Utama, involving a worker and a visitor.
At the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, five workers were found positive for Covid-19, he added.
The dormitory hosting the workers of the golf resort will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (Emco) starting midnight, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today.
The lockdown will last for 14 days, from Oct 12 to Oct 25. All 500 workers who reside there will be screened and tested.
However, the Tropicana golf club itself would not be affected. The Emco only applies to the staff dormitory area.
The senior minister also announced that One Utama will be closed for seven days for screening and sanitisation.
“We have agreed to close the shopping mall’s operations for seven days beginning from Oct 12 to carry out screenings for staff members and other involved parties,” Ismail Sabri said.
In addition, the Selangor government requests the assistance of members of the public who visited One Utama on select dates.
‘’The committee seeks the co-operation of the public visiting the cosmetics and perfume section on level G, Parkson Elite on Sept 30 to Oct 7 and Mac City on level two on Sept 25 until Sept 30 at One Utama to come forward for Covid-19 screening tests,’’ Petaling district Disaster Management Committee chairman, Johari Anuar said in a statement.
The Petaling district health office would conduct Covid-19 screening tests at One Utama on Wednesday and Thursday (Oct 14 and 15) from 9am to 2pm.
‘’Priority for screening test is for close contacts of the cases only, namely, visitors to the premises on the dates as stated,’’ he said.
Those with symptoms before the screening dates were asked to be present at a nearby health facility as soon as possible for examination and treatment, he added. – Bernama, October 10 , 2020
