KUALA LUMPUR – SMK Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar, here, has been ordered shut after a Covid-19 case was detected in the school.

In a letter sighted by The Vibes, the Education Ministry had issued a directive for the school to close for seven days beginning tomorrow.

The closure is scheduled to end next week on May 3.

The letter, signed by Kuala Lumpur Education Department Director Zainal Abas, said the decision is in line with the ministry’s ruling to close any school for a period of seven days, without risk analysis by the Health Ministry first, if any Covid-19 cases are found.

“The closure of schools must be done to allow cleaning, disinfection, and detection of close contacts to be conducted,” the letter, addressed to the school’s principal, read.

The ministry’s directive also ordered teachers to work from home and carry out home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) based on their abilities and capacity to communicate with students throughout the school’s closure. – The Vibes, April 26, 2021
