KUALA LUMPUR – High-end mall Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) will shut down for sanitisation after a staff member of one of its outlets tested positive for Covid-19.

The BSC management has ordered the whole complex shut at 8pm.

“We have just been informed of a Covid-19 case involving a retail staffer (Origani, Ground Floor),” said a post on the mall’s Facebook page.

“The said staffer was on duty on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, and at that time, was not showing any symptoms. The staffer has not been in BSC since.

“Origani has immediately closed its outlet, and all staff are undergoing Covid-19 testing in full compliance with Health Ministry guidelines.”

The mall will reopen as usual tomorrow, said the post.

A BSC spokesman told The Vibes that the measures taken are precautionary and at the mall’s own initiative to reassure tenants and patrons that their health and safety is of utmost priority.

Meanwhile, the management of Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall confirmed that an employee of their tenant had tested positive for Covid-19.

"The employee informed her management at LSC on October 9, 2020, that one of her family members was exposed to the virus. She immediately isolated herself through self-quarantine and arrangements were made for her to take the Covid-19 test which was confirmed positive on October 10, 2020," read the statement.

They said the Ministry of Health had been informed and that contact tracing has commenced.

“Sanitisation and disinfection of all three outlets under LSC as well as all common areas throughout the entire two malls are ongoing.

“The three outlets were closed immediately and will remain so until further notice,” read the statement.  – The Vibes, October 11, 2020
