KUALA LUMPUR – Gambling is forbidden by all religions and should be banned, said PAS’ Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, while also calling for restrictions on alcohol sales.
The plantation industries and commodities minister, who came under fire in recent months for breaching Covid-19 quarantine, said the Perikatan Nasional government led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should ban gambling, which he called an activity that is shunned by those who have good morals and are peace-loving.
“There are no intelligent people who love morals, who love peace, who like gambling. Because gambling is known to cause conflict, (so) ultimately, gambling must be banned. That is the reality that the world has to accept,” he told TV Pertiwi in an interview posted on Facebook.
He said alcohol consumption, meanwhile, is allowed by some religions.
“Some religions allow alcohol, and we will give rights to them, but gambling is not allowed in any religion.
“It is a scam and manipulation of human weakness in managing money.”
The Kuala Nerus MP said the sale of booze must be reviewed to ensure Muslims do not buy it, and to curb drink-driving incidents.
PAS has no issue with liquor being sold, he said, but it must be controlled. – The Vibes, October 11, 2020
