KUALA LUMPUR – The Sabah election was held only because the backdoor federal government was bent on taking the state the same way it entered Putrajaya, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The former prime minister, in a blog post today, said the previous Parti Warisan Sabah-led administration was forced to dissolve the state assembly because of this.

“Cash ultimately won, because it is king.”

He pointed to the high cost of the September 26 vote, not just in terms of money spent, but the Covid-19 outbreaks stemming from it.

“From Sabah, the disease spread to the peninsula.

“Unfortunately, Covid-19 doesn’t know that ministers are ‘immune’ to it. And so, there were infections, 631 in a day.

“From being a safe state, Sabah became a cluster (hotspot). Thousands got infected, with some even dying.”

According to the top leaders, he said, a general election will be called should they win the Sabah polls.

“Don’t break your promise. Hold the general election. Let hundreds of thousands of people get infected.

“Politics takes precedence over principle.

“What do I care. I won,” he added sarcastically. – The Vibes, October 12, 2020
