MIRI – Police in Sibu district in central Sarawak have launched a murder probe into the death of one of their officers who was found with gunshot wounds to his head in a house.

Originally from Pahang, he had been transferred to Sibu recently, accompanied by his wife and a 1-year old child, Jonathan told reporters.
He said the police had received information about the case and rushed to the scene to discover the deceased in a sitting position on the sofa with gunshot wounds to the head.
“He was a new recruit transferred to the Sibu police motorcycle patrol unit one-and-a-half months ago,” he said.
Jonathan said the initial probe showed that Norhalim had gone to the house, which was being rented by five friends, in the evening.
He was staying with his family at the housing quarters of the Sibu police headquarters.
Jonathan said the police have reasons to suspect the case as one of murder.
