Myanmar man arrested for hosting feast amid MCO

KUALA LUMPUR – Police yesterday arrested a Myanmar national and are tracking down a group of foreign nationals suspected of violating movement control order standard operating procedures by attending a feast in Sg Sekamat, Kajang.

Kajang police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said the man was arrested after officers received two videos, which have gone viral, on the incident.

“The man admitted to holding the function on May 13. We are still tracking down the individuals who attended the event,” he said in a statement last night.

“Those with information on the incident are asked to come forward to assist in the investigation. They can contact the Kajang district police headquarters, or investigating officer Zazali Kenek at 019-299-0062.”

The case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code, Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Amendment 2021), and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
