KUALA LUMPUR – Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will not avoid any suit stemming from the Kelana Jaya light rail transit (LRT) line crash on Monday, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
Speaking at a press conference today, he said Malaysia is a democratic country that follows the rule of law.
“We will follow the law. We will not avoid it, but face it and leave it to Prasarana.
“This is normal. Everyone has their rights; it is the same in this case. We will face anyone who wants to take action according to the law.”
On the condition of the crash victims, Wee said of the 213 passengers, 67 required hospitalisation, while 61 have been discharged.
Of the six victims requiring intensive care, one has been discharged, one has opted to go to a private medical centre, and the four others are still at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Earlier, the Ayer Hitam MP had via a Facebook post said the female patient seeking private medical care requires a hip surgery.
“She requires surgery after the accident. I’ve spoken to the family and the patient herself, as well as her husband.
“We communicated for more than 10 minutes. If anything, they will come to me, and we wish her a speedy recovery.” – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
