PRASARANA Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has withdrawn all visual advertisements for personal care products from its Ampang and Sri Petaling train services said to have touched on the sensitivities of the community.

Prasarana said the move was made after receiving feedback from train service users. Actions were taken to ensure that the visual advertisements did not raise sensitive issues for the public and immediate action was taken by tightening the review process.

"The public's feedback and views are greatly appreciated, especially when a form of targeting an individual or community is misinterpreted. We thank the public for their continued support and concern for the use of public transport," the company said in a statement today.

The statement is believed to be in response to the reaction of online users following a post that went viral on social media questioning the visual elements of an advertisement related to personal care products that were considered to touch on the sensitivities of certain races.

Prasarana stressed that they have taken note of user feedback regarding the visual elements of the advertisement on one of the Rapid KL trains.

"The visual content of the advertisement promoting personal care products depicts various daily situations involving Malaysians from various backgrounds who use public transport.

"The visual purpose of the advertisement is to highlight the importance of using personal care products and is not targeting any particular individual or community," it said.

The company also explained that before the visual was printed and displayed, the appropriate process was carried out, including reviews by internal and external parties covering aspects such as racial, religious and social sensitivity. – April 16, 2025
