KOTA KINABALU – Hours after Philip Among was reported to be allegedly involved in a sexual harassment case, the politician is now accused of violating the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) last month.
Among, who is a Sabah STAR member, allegedly failed to put on a mask while attending an event on May 29.
A 65-year-old man – who was said to be on duty as a security guard – alleged that Among had violated the SOPs during the Kaamatan Harvest Festival singing contest Sugandoi.
In the police report dated today, the security guard said that on May 29, Among and four of his friends entered the KDCA Hall but were stopped as they were not wearing special tags issued for the event.
Among was apparently not happy with the guard’s action and scolded him.
“Do you know who I am, I am powerful, who dares to scold me for not wearing a name tag and mask. I don’t need security guards like this. I have my own security and 30 bouncers. I am the one who is paying your salary,” the guard quoted to the police.
The guard only found out on May 30 that the man who scolded him was Among, adding that Among was part of the Unduk Ngadau beauty queen organising committee.
The guard said he witnessed Among attending the Sugandoi singing contest without a mask.
Earlier today, social media in Sabah was abuzz over a police report alleging Among had sexually harassed one of the Unduk Ngadau beauty pageant contestants.
Police have said they will conduct a probe into the case.
