MIRI – A total of 101 longhouse residents in Sarikei have tested positive for Covid-19 after a social gathering recently.

Those involved in the Sg Selangan cluster have been taken to Sarikei Hospital, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (DMC).

The longhouse has been placed under the enhanced movement control order.

Sarawak today saw its coronavirus death toll and caseload climb by six and 594, respectively.

The victims are a 66-year-old woman, who died at Kapit Hospital; a woman aged 68 at Miri Hospital; a 60-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman at Sibu Hospital; and, a man aged 44 and a 65-year-old woman at Sarikei Hospital.

The state DMC said Sarawak’s death toll now stands at 311.

Of the new cases today, Kuching logged 136, followed by Miri (99), Sarikei (66), Bintulu (61), Sri Aman (48), Sibu (38), Dalat (32), Subis (20) and other districts (fewer than 20). – The Vibes, June 3, 2021
