GEORGE TOWN – The investigation paper on Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who allegedly test-drove a truck at an Autocity Juru showroom last week in breach of movement controls, is almost completed.
Penang police chief Datuk Sahabudin Abdul Manan said a total of nine witnesses, including Sanusi, were called in to have their statements recorded starting Sunday.
He told The Vibes that police are still trying to secure closed-circuit television camera footage from areas near the dealership, as the CCTV on the premises did not record the incident.
“The investigation paper is almost completed. So far, we have recorded testimonies from nine witnesses. No other witnesses will be called up.
“We expect this investigation paper to be submitted to the state prosecutor’s office soon.”
Social media was abuzz over the weekend after photos and videos of a man, believed to be Sanusi, test-driving a car amid the Covid-19 lockdown were widely shared.
The standard operating procedures state that vehicle sale and exhibition centres are not allowed to operate until June 14, when the lockdown is slated to end.
Sanusi has denied taking the truck for a test drive, and said he was simply talking to people at the dealership.
The menteri besar said he was on his way to a meeting with investors in Kuala Lumpur when he stopped at Autocity Juru to buy snacks from a convenience store located beside the showroom in question. – The Vibes, June 9, 2021
