MIRI – Social gatherings at longhouses in two districts have sparked another 111 Covid-19 infections in two new clusters in northern Sarawak.
The Bali Pie cluster in Subis district saw 62 people infected after residents from two longhouses got together in a mass gathering.
Similarly, the Jalan Samarakan cluster in Tatau district involved 49 longhouse residents.
The state Disaster Management Committee (DMC) secretariat said health teams are on site to screen the rest of the residents and to send the serious cases to Miri Hospital.
Sarawak also recorded four more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the tally to 334.
The secretariat said in a statement that the victims were two men aged 63 and 67 in Sibu Hospital, a 63-year-old woman in Sri Aman Hospital, and a 70-year-old man in Kanowit Hospital.
Of today’s 631 new cases, Kuching district logged 103, followed by Miri (102), Sri Aman (71), Sibu (55), Tatau (54), Kapit (37), Subis (36), Bintulu (28), and several other districts (fewer than 20 cases each). – The Vibes, June 10, 2021
